Save Gansevoort has won an important legal victory. At a hearing on February 9th, a judge granted us a preliminary injunction that prevents the developer from doing any work on the exteriors of 60-68 and 70-74 Gansevoort Street until the court reaches a decision on our case.
Preliminary injunctions are very difficult to obtain and are rarely granted, and yet the court granted us this relief. It is exactly what we hoped to obtain at this point. We are extremely gratified by the court’s decision.
The next (and possibly final) hearing, at which both sides will argue their case, is now scheduled for Wednesday, March 8th at 2:15 PM. The hearing will again be at 60 Centre Street Room 345 (at Foley Square).
Please save the date and make every effort to attend! We need a good turnout at the hearing to show the judge how strongly the community feels about saving Gansevoort Street.
The Villager has a good article about the injunction with some additional details.
